HB26-1139 - Use of Artificial Intelligence in Health Care - Advances to CO General Assembly Vote
HB26-1139, the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Health Care bill, establishes a regulatory framework for how artificial intelligence (AI) systems or algorithms are used in healthcare settings. It aims to set basic safety rules for entities like health insurance carriers, pharmacy benefit managers, and managed care organizations that utilize AI for decision-making or administrative purposes in Colorado. The bill passed the Senate Business, Labor, and Technology Committee today with a unanimous vote, and MHANCO Board President Blair Skinner Wilson testified in support. It will now move on for a vote in the Colorado General Assembly. Our lobbyist, Camille Driver, of 3015 Policy Center, was very involved in the drafting and revision of this legislation. Thank you to Senators Lisa Cutter and Lindsey Daugherty for being the Senate Sponsors of this important bill! See the bill text here: https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/HB26-1139
